Atelier Plint

A portfolio website for an architecture practice, where daylight, material and calm typography do the talking.

A self-initiated concept for a fictional brand, made to show how we approach a brief. It is not client work: the brand, its products and every detail shown are invented.

Atelier Plint concept homepage: a dark page with the serif headline “Rooms that hold the light” beside an image of daylight falling across a stone plinth.

The brief we set ourselves

A fictional architecture and interiors practice near The Hague wins most of its work through referrals, and prospective clients visit the website before the first meeting. The brief we set ourselves: a portfolio that feels as considered as the buildings, quick to scan by project type and location, and easy for the team to keep up to date.

Phone layouts are designed alongside desktop, not squeezed from it: the same content, arranged for one hand and a small screen.

Approach

  1. 01

A quiet frame for the work

A dark, restrained interface lets the project images carry the colour. Headings use a light serif; practical information uses a neutral sans.

  2. 02

    An index, not a feed

Projects are listed with place, type and year, so a visitor can find a comparable project in seconds.

  3. 03

    Images at their best

Large, responsive images in modern formats, loaded as they are needed, so the site stays fast on a mobile connection.

What the site would include

  • Home page with a featured project
  • Project index filterable by type
  • Project pages with image sequences and plans
  • Practice page with approach and services
  • Journal
  • Contact page with studio details

How we would build it

We would build this as a static site connected to a headless CMS, so the practice can add projects and images without touching code, while pages stay fast and secure.
